Treating Windows with Custom Shades or Blinds in a Home Office

Silhouette Sheer Shades

Even though some days it might not feel like it, spring is just around the corner, which means it’s time to do some springtime prep. At Window Treats here in Monmouth Beach, we have a routine you might consider applying to your spring cleaning. Check it out below!

Tackle Some Big Stuff

Have you been neglecting some of the bigger tasks (and maybe even some smaller ones too)? Now’s a great time to knock them out.

  • Clean out the garage to get rid of junk and wintertime gunk. Reorganize the basement or storage area. And be sure to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  • Take care of your gutters. Weather and just plain time can conspire to clog your gutters and downspouts with leaves, muck, and other debris. Once you’ve cleared the foreign material from the gutters, be sure the downspouts send the water at least five feet from the structure of your home.
  • Give your dryer some love. You might do a great job at cleaning the lint from your dryer screen with every load, but even still, it can build up in your machine and in the ducts. That build-up can become a fire hazard, so it’s important to remove it. Simply disconnect the vent from the back of your machine and remove the lint with a dryer vent brush or a strong vacuum.

Take Care of Your Windows

Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks for Windows and Home

Spring is a great time to wash the inside and outside of your windows as well as your screens. Be sure to repair any breaks or replace screens that are beyond repair. Also consider some maintenance on your window treatments. You can use compressed air to clean out cellular shades such as Duette® Honeycomb Shades. Simply dust other blinds and shades, and vacuum treatments like Silhouette® Sheer Shades using the brush attachment. If your aluminum or faux wood blinds (such as Everwood® Alternative Wood Blinds) are grimy, clean them with lukewarm water in a bathtub or sink. Reinstall the treatment while it’s still damp, and lower it to let it completely dry. And be sure to speak with one of our representatives if you’re in need of entirely new treatments. We’ll be happy to help you find the product that will suit your needs.
